Bar/Club

The Showbox is the workhorse of Seattle's live music and entertainment scene. Most every touring band, DJ and comedian you can name has played here at least once, and will likely play here again; the room has a fun vibe that seems to agree with most performers. A large dance floor accommodates standing-room crowds or legions of sweaty dancers, while two side bars service the parched and insufficiently-stimulated. (The bars are seperated from the main floor by railings and surly bouncers; this allows the Showbox to hold all-ages shows.)

The sound mix is excellent and the sightlines are mostly good -- just make sure you don't get stuck behind one of those floor-to-ceiling pillars lining the bar areas. Coat check is available, and if you get hungry, the kitchen at the adjoining Green Room bar stays open late. And don't miss the vintage black-and-white photo booth -- it makes everybody look good.
