DESCRIPTION

Its water may be nippy but Alki Beach Park is hands down one of Seattle's hottest places to hang out — especially in the summer. Ever since the first white settlers arrived in 1851 to a greeting by Chief Sealth and his tribe, folks have been flocking to this social gathering spot.

A paved 2.5-mile trail stretches between Alki Point and Duwamish Head along Elliott Bay's waters, showcasing the extended views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Alki Beach Park's sand attracts castle builders, beach volleyball players and sunbathers; its flat, wide path invites in-line skating, running, and leisurely strolling.

Alki Beach Park is partially protected by a seawall at its north end. Bathrooms are at the south end.
