DESCRIPTION

Wax On Spa has the cosmetic goods for adding a little color to your face, but the blush you really want here is the natural kind. You'll get it with the signature Brazilian bikini wax (that's spa speak for "hairless below"). Come in with hair as crazed as the punk-rock shag on the pillow in the window and leave with nice, neat, nirvana down under. Or dare to walk out with your own private pubic art: Wax On's Web site suggests "a blonde heart, a purple star or a contemporary martini glass."

Owner Anne Uhlir has nine years of experience with wax, five of them in this spa, so if anyone can pull it (all) off, she can. (Catch her in Capitol Hill on select days and by appointment in Belltown.)

Wax On's cosmetic side includes facials ($65), pedicures ($32-$40), manicures ($20-$22) and beauty products such as Decleor, and Karen Gold's local line, Ma Chere. There are two massage rooms at each location, a nail table at the Belltown location, and a marble sink and pedicure chair at the Capitol Hill spa. Fun undies by Frisk Innerwear hang from twine clotheslines — the perfect complement to going Brazilian.

Tips: Make appointments online — just make sure your bikini hair is at least a quarter-inch long for a Brazilian.

Going hairless is not painless, but ibuprofen 45 minutes before your appointment can reduce the legendary pain. You can trust Wax On's use of baby powder and good technique, or cave in and request lidocaine from the start.
