The store is small, it's clammy and there's not a whole lot of thought devoted to decor, but the focus here is fish — you won't find any fresher unless you strap a spear gun to your hip and dive into the Bering Sea. As much as Seattle chefs would like to keep this place a secret, they have to share with the rest of us. Transplanted East Coasters will thrill to see soft-shell crabs on the menu when in season.

Since 1947, the Yoshimura family has provided fish and Asian groceries to the Rainier Valley. Cooks keep coming back not only for the quality of the products but for the selection as well. With seven kinds of salmon, nine types of shellfish and five varieties of oysters, only the most die-hard land-lubber won't be able to find something to eat.
