DESCRIPTION
Title 9 Sports named for the legislation that required schools with federal funding to provide equal support to women's athletics is all women, all the time. It's practical, with clothes organized by activity and a sports-bra rating system. It's thoughtful wee ones (and their moms) will enjoy the tiny crayon table and blackboard easel. But it's also fanciful, offering floral cap sleeves, chalk-like pastels labeled "lemonade" and tarragon," and the new category of "fashletics" (athletic wear with a fashionable twist).
All of this adds up to comfort while you shop as well as later, when you're putting your gear to the test.
Prices range from $30 for slinky running shorts to as much as $80 for special cycling skorts. Two entire walls show off more than 60 sports bras. Fabrics include nylon, canvas and special weaves, all designed to deal with moisture; keep it in, keep it off, bring it on! Inspirational posters show women actively enjoying their hard-earned bodies. Don't miss the poster near the door: Instead of a woman's plunging neckline, it shows her back as she balances in a yoga pose. Her muscular torso is so inspiring, you'll feel your limbs wanting to move.
Tips: This store builds muscle and community at the same time. Look for the sign-up sheets for various group activities, such as trips to Seattle Storm games or early morning climbs up Seattle's many staircases.
