DESCRIPTION
Lisa Black's welcoming yoga studio in Ballard offers a toasty yoga workout. Though not technically "hot yoga," the room is kept at 88 degrees to relax muscles for power Vinyasa flow yoga, the style taught there. The small boutique carries yoga apparel by Be Present, Marika, Shiva Shakti and Om Girl, along with props, CDs and books.

Unbearable Class Sizes!
Posted on 10/09/2008
Yes, I know this studio was voted one of the "Best" in Seattle, but after my recent experience I don't believe it deserves this title. When I registered for the Intro Series online I was under the impression that, although it "fills quickly" the number of students will range from "25-40. To my dismay, the class I attended had at least 70 people!! The class was unbearable!! No room to move, no ability to see demonstrations of poses, etc. This is the first yoga studio I have attended that did not limit the number of students. No one can receive the kind of attention and guidance needed to properly learn yoga when the teacher-student ration is 20 to 1. Save yourself some money and seek out a studio that emphasizes quality not quantity!

love shakti

this is by far the most welcoming studio i've been to. it's down to earth and fun without being pretentious and the classes are brilliant. engaging, hard and, well, fun. the only downside is the older lady who is always on the reception when i seem to go there...she has the demeanor of steelmill worker and is as friendly as a dog who recently lost their bone! but that aside, i love shakti

I heart Shakti Vinyasa

I set one foot into Shakti Vinyasa Yoga 2 years ago and I knew I had come h{OM}e. Sweat, challenge, strength, spirit, community. Shakti has everything I look for in a yoga studio. The owners do a great job of building a friendly, welcoming community feel. And all the teachers are very knowledgeable and well-trained, very top-notch. Shakti offers classes for all levels of ability. Like the Intro. Series for beginners, up to Level 3 for more advanced practicioners. Studio is spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. LOTS f classes per day! You can even take a 6am class before work or a noon lunch hour, then shower right there (so key). The retail shop is great carries Lululemon, Be Present yoga clothes for men and women and books, DVDs, CDs, good stuff. I heart Shakti Vinyasa (can you tell?)
