DESCRIPTION

Since 1976, Baby & Co. has sat in the same corner location, with the same 25-foot ceilings, with the same idea: to be five minutes ahead. Sometimes it takes more than that for Seattle shoppers to catch on. Baby & Co. is zigging when everyone else is zagging, straight-laced when all others are covered in frills.

"We're looking for new. If it's too in, we'll stay away from it," said the store's Jill Donnelly.

That means taking chances with high-end couture lines from Comme des Garcons' double label; Marithe and Francois Girbaud; Shirin Guild; Lilith and other European and Japanese fashion houses. Those with an open mind, a sense of fun, plenty of aplomb, and a big balance in their checking account will revel in the high-quality fabrics and soon-to-be classics. Those who prefer to keep their sense of adventure out of their wardrobe will also find some must-haves, such as the perfect palazzo pants or a sheer blouse that can be dressed up or down.

Tip: Instead of just standing there with your tongue hanging out, get on the list for the private sales - 40 percent off - held in July and December.

The first time I walked into Baby&Co I knew it was different, and recognized a few brands that I had only seen in small boutiques in Europe or in large US cities. Gradually I started to buy pieces there and really each piece is an investment because the clothes are cut beautifully, they last forever and they don't go out of style. I am still wearing combinations of clothes that I purchased there ten years ago that look surprisingly trendy today because European cuts in many cases just don't go out of style. The sales team there is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about their inventory and you have to go for it and let them dress you or suggest a few outfits for your body type - I guarantee you will see clothes differently.

I Love Baby and Co.5

Oh, the fashions, the staff, the customers...this is my favorite shop in Seattle! You will always look fabulous when you wear an outfit from Baby and Co. and people will ooh and ahh over you. It is true, some of the pieces can be spendy but there are fashions in a full range of prices. And, in addition, you will be wearing your purchases years later and they will still look fresh and special. I guarantee the ladies at Baby and Co. will help you pick out something that makes you look and feel great!

Bad service at Baby & Co1
Posted on 06/29/2008
When I went into Baby & Co. I was also extremely disappointed by their sales associate's bad attitude and poor customer service. I walked in and the woman at the counter looked me up and down, never welcomed me, and five minutes later, she walked up to me and demanded that I take off my ipod ear phones when I am in their store. And besides, $600 for a polyester skirt made in China? Really?
