You can't help but gasp when you come into Isadora's - first when you see the sumptuous collection of vintage designer gowns and custom-made formal and bridal wear, and again when you look at the price tags. Yes, it is expensive ($675 for a 1970's cocktail dress, and that's on the low end) and yes, the help can sometimes be haughty. But if you're looking for a best-dressed greatest-hits collection from the past 130 years, you've come to the right place with all the big-name designers such as Christian Dior, Oscar de la Renta, Halston, Bill Blass and Yves St. Laurent. Shoes, coats and handbags are all chosen with the same exacting care.

Your date might not be swayed to accompany you by the mention of the case glittering with estate jewelry, but he might be tempted by the racks of antique tuxes in pristine condition.
