DESCRIPTION

What's in a name? When you're talking about this place, the moniker about sums it up: cookies and all things about them. It's amazing what proprietors Caryn Truitt and Betsey Toombs have managed to cram into this canary-colored cookie sanctuary: between 200 and 300 different cookie cutters (not counting sets), mixes, tools such as cookie droppers and pans, cookie jars, and of course, cookies for people and dogs.

Inspiration comes easy with cookbooks and mixes. Or you might be the type of person who goes for the glitz straight off, and in that case, you can dive into any of 70 jars with fancy toppings (chrome sugar balls, animal shapes, colored "sand," traditional sprinkles in an extended rainbow of colors, etc.). High-end white and milk chocolate ensure that the most exacting gourmand will find ingredients here, too.

TIP: Throw a party! With enough notice, Cookies can custom-bake a batch of blank gingerbread or shortbread palettes, then you and your guests can go all Picasso on them.
