DESCRIPTION

You don't have to be well-heeled to look well-heeled after a visit to Champagne Taste, a consignment store that specializes in formal wear, bridal dresses and furs. Wise Eastside women have known since 1986 that they can come here to pick up designer duds — Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Prada and Escada are regular denizens of the racks — at a fraction of the price. And we're not talking those old musty numbers, either.

Owner Sheri Luke has a standing agreement with five different bridal salons to take their samples and discontinued dresses; her store is also where good clothes come for a new life after other businesses bow out.

TIP: Begin your search for hats and handbags here — Luke attracts some wild and wacky ones, along with must-have classics.

Is their taste too expensive to give good service? My fiance and I were casually walking around town after lunch when I ran into Champagne Taste and wow did they leave a bad taste in my mouth. I was looking for a bridal outfit, a 1950's throwback, or something along those lines for an up coming photo shoot. I found a few things that were a bit pricey, but worth trying on. However, with nobody in the store other than myself, my fiance and the lady at front, it could not have been made more clear are presence was not welcome. I'm talking Pretty Woman here. I have never been made so uncomfortable as a potential customer. I thought this was a consignment shop in Kirkland, Wa...not Rodeo Drive. I would reccommend taking your time and money somewhere else, they obviously don't want it and most certainly don't deserve it.

Sorry, but do not take items for consignment. They are not honest. I left 12 pairs of shoes, and a new pair of thigh high leather boots. I never got any money from them. They told me the items didn't sell, so they went to charity. However, on my way out I saw 2 pairs of my shoes and questioned her about it. she looked very guilty and said we missed a couple. she then said you can take them back it you want (which is against thier policy) because I didn't feel right when I dropped them off in the first place and the next day I told her I wanted to come get them. she told me I would have to pay 25% to get them back. I said I didn't belive that none sold, she then checked her records and gave me $7. Does that sound honest?

BRING ON THE BRIDES!!5

Thank goodness for Champagne Taste - it was the only spot in Seattle that didn't try to 'fleece' me as a bride. I found a dream dress for a few hundred dollars, picked up a veil for next to nothing AND was reffered to an equally great seamstress to fit the dress like a glove. Thank goodness for a place that knows brides don't need to spend thousands to look like a million bucks!
