The portraits of Bruce Lee inside Chop Suey's entrance don't lie: Chop Suey packs one hell of a kick. This Capitol Hill bar and music venue has an interior worthy of its name — gold Buddhas and pagoda roofs abound — but the action taking place on the stage and dance floor is so compelling that you'll hardly notice the décor.

Primarily a venue for scratch, drum 'n' bass and hip-hop DJs, Chop Suey also welcomes punk bands, techno acts and straight-ahead rock bands.

A look at the venue's past gigs reads like a college-radio training manual: Ladytron, Kid Koala, The Streets, Kind Of Like Spitting and The New Bomb Turks have all practiced their kung fu here.
