We chose Ray's based on reviewing the menu ahead of time. Unfortunately, they were out of halibut. I ordered the sablefish and did not like it at all. This was last Sunday. The menu posted now no longer includes the sablefish or halibut. The new menu looks great. I wish we had waited. The service and atmosphere were both good.

Day 1 of the March 2007campaign, college foodie friend and I score a window table reservation at Ray's Boathouse. Ample parking, seated promptly with genuine friendly professionalism. Didn't partake of the suggested wine flights, but indulged in perfectly served calamari with aioli. Warm, not greasy or rubbery. House breads tasty but use gourmet salt accented butter sparingly. Lots of menu selections which change weekly. Generous, no over the top frilly presented portions: House salad butter lettuce abundant with blue cheese, almonds and Craisins; wild King Salmon grilled to perfection with blood orange emulsion, so-so mashers and toothy green beans; "Just Chocolate" layered cake piqued my interest over the other two choices but I'd not bother with the weak creme anglaise. College pal tried the malted milk chocolate creme brulee with accompanying cookie. Pleasant, well-timed, unobtrusive, and unhurried service. Total table time two hours. Left well fed and satisfied.

Not only did I work at Ray's but I am a frequent diner, the Sablefish in Sake Kasu is wonderful and one of the best things on the menu! My husband and I love going here for dinner and recommend it as a must see for anyone that is visiting Seattle.
