But for all its reputation as a challenging mountain, Willamette caters to families by providing long, wide, gently sloped, tree-lined runs. With the exception of the occasional racer-head, the atmosphere at Willamette is relaxed and easy-going. Willamette has several programs catering to kids and race programs that encourage family members to ski, ride, and race together.

Willamette Pass has day facilities only. A variety of lodging options are available to meet the weekend or vacation needs of families, groups or individuals - and all can be found within 30 minutes of the pass. Many of the facilities offer mid-week lift-lodging packages that can save visitors up to 20 percent off regular rates. These are small communities without much nightlife or aprés-ski activities. The town of Eugene, home to one of Oregon's larger universities, is roughly an hour's drive.
