I thought I would be bored when I went in search of back-to-school gear, but instead, I found supplies, books and bags worth buying (and the best part is, you don't have to head back to the classroom to use and enjoy these finds). It was still hard work, so after one relentless day of scouting I stopped by Olivine's new Shopping Happy Hour for an attitude adjustment. It made me giddy, not inebriated, and I walked away (in a straight line) with a new cream blush at a discount.

Possibly because I live a fairly safe and easy modern existence, I have often sought outdoor experiences that expose me to the power of nature.
I've trembled in my tent with fear and excitement through howling storms and been thrilled kayaking in rough seas. Over the years I've chased tornadoes and sat awestruck on the top of mountains.
So it is no surprise that I'm drawn to our state's volcanoes. Their sheer size can make me giggle like a kid. After living in this area for nearly 20 years, catching sight of Mount Rainier still pulls a whispered "wow" out of me.
