Short Trips
OMAK -- For many Washington state natives it's hard not to say the word stampede in the same breath as Omak. After all, every second weekend in August since 1933 the largest city in Okanogan County has hosted the popular western heritage event officially called the Omak Stampede.
It's the biggest gig in town all year and includes a rodeo and the ever-controversial suicide race. Thousands pour into the little town for what has turned into a four-day event.

Hike of the Week

The steep, loose terrain and no switchbacks combined with rain to make this one of the worst trails I've ever hiked.
