I missed the Fremont Solstice Parade this year, and in retrospect I'm okay with that. Last year's parade was unpleasant for me: The concrete island in the middle of Fremont Place North, from which I had shot several past parades, had been removed, and no sooner had I found a place to stand than a clean-cut family of four jammed in behind me and begin to complain loudly that I was blocking their view.
