Some days when Andrea Houghton goes to her neighborhood Fred Meyer, she lets her parrot, Girlfriend, ride on her shoulder. Fans call out "Hey, Girlfriend," and the splendid blue and gold macaw always talks back. For Houghton, who hand-raises baby birds for The Tweetery in Crown Hill, the outings are a chance to socialize with her feathered friend.
