Back in the 1950s -- or sometime in a past that probably never existed -- Mrs. Johnson would invite all the neighborhood moms and kids over, and she'd serve cake and coffee and the kids would go off and play. But Mrs. Johnson isn't around anymore, if she was ever around to begin with. So modern moms might head to Playmatters in Greenwood/Phinney.

The latest installment of George Lucas / Steven Spielberg's "Indiana Jones" serial, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," opens in Seattle theaters Wednesday, May 21, at midnight. I know you're keen to run to Cinerama and get in line now ... but before you do, and speaking as someone who's seen all three movies in the theater (and on their original theatrical runs, sucka!), I'd like to give you a few words of friendly advice.

I come from a long line of wine drinkers. When I was younger, my parents went through wine "phases," when they would settle on a favorite varietal for a while, then move on to the next trend in the wine world. One summer it was Pinot Gris; the next, Vouvray. If I recall correctly, there was even a boxed-wine phase -- I could swear I spotted some Franzia in our fridge.
