Monday: By now you've no doubt planned your New Year's Eve down
to the moment you fall, fully clothed, into bed. If you're stuck for
ideas, however, I advise you to check out these five suggestions on how you should spend the last night of the year, and this list of New Year's Eve parties
around town. They won't tell you how to keep from getting sick in a
taxicab, but they're pretty helpful in most other regards. Cheers, and
stay safe.

There's lots of fun to be had this weekend, but for once the real party comes on Monday, as Seattle celebrates the end of 2007. As the year comes to a close, we'd like to take the opportunity to tell you that it has been a pleasure and a privilege to let you know about cool things to do for the past year. We sincerely hope that you've found some good times through NWsource, and that you'll stick with us for 2008, because we've got some great surprises planned for you. Happy new year!

Monday: 'Tis the night before Christmas and the house is
probably empty, because everyone you know has gone to the venerable
(read: old and charmingly skeezy) Blue Moon Tavern for the fourth
annual "Blowdog and Sneezy Christmas Pageant and Midnight Mass."
Members of the Hopscotch Boys and A Gun that Shoots Knives will provide
musical inspiration; DJ Country Mike will spin tracks rich with both
picking and grinning; the lovely, ukulele-armed Christmas Belles will
"weave tragic Christmas tales around a sunshine superstructure"; and
Satan himself will fire up the place with his ebullience. Forget eggnog
-- the bar's serving four-dollar Bloody Marys. And to all a good night.

Let's say you're out dancing to the independent rock in one of Seattle's remaining nightclubs. Suddenly it's 1 a.m., and you think, "Man, I could sure use a plate of (blank) to soak up all this PBR." So you hop in a cab and go ... where? And order what? Tell us what your favorite late-night dish is, and where it can be found. We've got to know, because as much as we love the onion rings at 13 Coins, we desperately need variety in our lives. Check our site in a week or so, and see if your pick made the cut.

It's a terrible loss to Seattle nightlife. A galaxy of future local stars -- including Nirvana, Band of Horses, Death Cab for Cutie and Modest Mouse -- once graced the Croc's tiny stage. Hundreds of up-and-coming bands, from the Strokes and the Decemberists to the Killers, played the club shortly before they broke big.

Monday: Hey, it ain't Christmas until someone is dismembered by supernatural beasts, right? Tonight at Chop Suey, enjoy a double bill of heart-warming, flesh-rending holiday entertainment: Bob Clark's sorority slash-fest "Black Christmas" and Joe Dante's creepy-cloying hybrid "Gremlins." Fun facts:

Attention, college hoop fans! Did you know that a top-10 men's basketball team is coming to Seattle to play at KeyArena? "Who is it?" you ask? Another highly ranked Gonzaga team coming to play in the annual Battle in Seattle? A tough NCAA opponent set to take on the Huskies in a rare game at the Key?

We all know puppies and kitties are cute. But once a puppy or kitty puts on a Santa hat and falls asleep… well, ladies and gentlemen, that's insanely cute. I bet every one of you knows an animal -- be it dog or cat, parrot or iguana, scorpion or goat -- that's done something utterly adorable during the holidays. And I bet you'd love to send us photos of your beloved pet(s) celebrating the season. Because without a constant stream of holiday pet photos, we're all just a little less holly-jolly.

We've all heard of Christmas and Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, and most of us remember that the Winter Solstice happens pretty soon (Dec. 22), too. Some may even observe Festivus, a more recently developed holiday noted for such rituals as the Airing of Grievances and Feats of Strength. But what about all the holiday-themed events that fall through the cracks? The things you see listed and wonder about. "Who goes to these events?" you ask yourself. "I mean, really -- who? I'm actually curious!"
Well, dear reader, that "who?" could be you.
