KEXP will de-gentrify Ballard for a day

You can disparage Ballard as you will -- "not as cool as it once was," "too many condos," "Geoff Carter lives there" -- but you can't deny that its residents give a hell of a lot of money to listener-supported radio. In recognition of the neighborhood's solid fundraising efforts during last summer's pledge drive, KEXP will broadcast live from Ballard from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, May 9.

Nine Inch Nails thwomps its way into KeyArena

I haven't bought a Nine Inch Nails record in nearly a decade. Part of the reason for this is that, as of late, the Nails' front man/everythingman Trent Reznor has been giving the goodies away, à la Radiohead. Also, I haven't liked the recent albums all that much.

There's this funny thing about empires: They fall. In less than a week, Seattle Art Museum's exhibit of Roman art from the Louvre will close, and all those amazing statues, busts, columns, mosaics, frescoes and decorative objects -- nearly 200 pieces of art in all -- will be packed up and moved to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. It's strange, this inexplicable attraction Oklahoma seems to have for the things Seattle holds dear. But I digress.
