At first glance, Dina Martina has the appearance of Carol Channing-meets-Dr. Frank N. Furter of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. If you are the type who judges a book by its cover, this is one time you might be on to something. Miss Martina (aka drag performer Grady West) is a variety act like no other. She mixes shocking wardrobe and makeup with song, dance and multimedia, wrapped up into a comedy act that will have you in stitches.
Miss Martina's gift parade (that's "g" as in "giraffe," by the way) reveals some one-of-a-kind objects that you'd never buy for yourself (a Dionne Warwick toilet seat, for example). Despite her silliness, the humor is quite witty. Dina's Christmas show was the most festive thing I've done this holiday.
There are still opportunities to catch her Christmas show at the Re-bar until Dec. 31, but reservations are required. If it gets booked, don't worry, you can catch her brand new act at the Jewelbox in Belltown starting on Feb. 17. Dina's gift parade isn't just during the holidays. Who knows, maybe you'll be lucky enough to get the Cheetos-flavored lip balm!
