I've always kind of wondered about pug passion. As much as I am an equal opportunity dog lover, the bug-eyed, plate-faced pugs have never really captured my fancy. I say this with trepidation since I know they've pretty much cornered most-favored status among Seattle's canine bantam weights.

So, I'm going to amble down to Pugmania on Saturday. I've heard estimates that as many as 1,000 squiggly, snorting, curly-tailed pups -- many in costume -- will show for the celebration to benefit the worthy Seattle Pug Rescue. I figure, I'll either catch the pug bug for real or be cured forever.

In the meantime, I thought you might enjoy seeing this poor Brit succumb to pug lust.

Details: Pugmania, Saturday, May 10, noon-5 p.m., Magnuson Park, Hangar #30; $10 per person, 12 and older. Children under 12 and pugs or pug-mixes free.
