The loud, proud knitters of Seattle have had enough, and their
days of knitting on the down low are over. This weekend, they'll take
to the outdoors for World Wide Knit in Public Day.

The Northwest Pinball and Gameroom Show, happening June 6 through 8 in Seattle Center's Northwest Rooms, boasts more than a hundred pinball machines, plus a handful of classic arcade games, all free to play with a single-day paid admission of $15. If you're dazzled by the collection of pinball machines at Sureshot, Jules Maes and Shorty's Coney Island, this assortment is going to blow your head clean off.

My step-aunt had an enormous tiger cat named Rhombus. He pounced like a cat and landed like an elephant. If Rhombus was in the running, I know he'd prevail in the Monster Cat category
at the
Average Joe Cat Show this Saturday. But Rhombus hung up his extra large collar years ago, so all you "big-boned" kitty contenders out there have a chance.

For wannabe urban farmers this weekend poses an erudition challenge. There is, of course, a Saturday primer on keeping mini-goats in the city but at the same time there's a free class on keeping hens. It's the classic chicken and egg/goat and milk dilemma -- solved most easily by sending Ma Kettle in one direction and Pa Kettle in another.

The American Kennel Club's all-breed shows are just what they sound like: More than 3,000 dogs may be entered in a given show, and the range of breeds -- often upwards of 150 -- is impressive. The AKC's regional winter event also includes agility competition. Whether you're a serious breeder or have just seen "Best in Show" too many times, this veritable dogapalooza should be a delight.
