Happy hours
Want to have fun without spending too much dough? Thank God there's happy hour. But with so many bars and restaurants to choose from for your after-work drink (or afternoon drink in some cases), let us suggest a few favorites:
Bandits Bar (Queen Anne)
4-7 p.m. daily. $3 bottled and draft beers, wine and well drinks; $3 chicken, pork or veggie tamales.

Barca (Capitol Hill)
5-7 p.m. daily; 10 p.m.-2 a.m. Sunday and Monday $3.50 wells; $3 16-ounce drafts; $5 well cosmopolitans, Manhattans and martinis.

Brasa (Belltown)
5-7 p.m. daily. All food on bar menu is half off, including Moroccan steak sandwich, curried mussels, fried oysters, assorted pizzas and paella.

Brouwer's Café (Fremont)
3-6 p.m. daily. $1 off draft beers and well drinks; food specials, including medium pommes frites (fries) for price of a small.

Cascadia (Belltown)
5-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Well drinks are $4.50, draught beer $4, the sommelier's selected wine $6 and the Alpine Martini is $4.50. The city's best miniburgers are $2 apiece (order them in bulk), and calamari cones are $5.

Casuelita's Caribbean Café (Belltown)
Casuelita's downstairs bar is packed at happy hour (4-7 p.m. weekdays), and with good reason. Beer is $3, well drinks $2, and most of the tapas are available for $4-$6.

Cha Cha Lounge (Capitol Hill)
5-8 p.m. daily (all day Sunday and Monday). $2.75 wells, $4.75 doubles, $3.50 margaritas, $6 Long Island Iced Teas and discounted drafts and pitchers.

Conor Byrne Pub (Ballard)
4-7 p.m. daily. $2.50 microbrews, $4 Guinness, $1.50 Rainier, $1.50 PBR tallboys, $3.50 imported beers and $1 off all hard liquor.

Copper Gate (Ballard)
5-7 p.m. daily. $5 specialty cocktails and Aquavit, $1 off all beer and wine and $3 off all food (including desserts).

Cyclops (Belltown)
3-6 p.m. daily. $1 off all wells, drafts and house wines; $2 off all appetizers.

Deluxe Bar & Grill (Capitol Hill)
3-6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close, daily. Half-price appetizers; $1 off daily cocktail specials, wells and draft beers; $5.50 Bloody Marys.

Georgetown Liquor Company (Georgetown)
4-7 p.m. weekdays. $2.50 wells, $3 microbrews, $1.50 pints of PBR. $1 off all appetizers, including roasted root-vegetable plate, wontons and hummus platter.

Jules Maes Saloon (Georgetown)
3-7 p.m. daily. $3 wells and microbrews; special on PBR: $1.50 pints, $6.50 pitchers.

King's Hardware (Ballard)
5-7 p.m. daily. $2.50 tap beers and wells; $4.50 for three sliders (miniburgers).

Kurrent Restaurant + Bar (Downtown)
3-6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close, daily. $3 beer, $5 wine and wells; happy-hour appetizers all under $5, including crab cakes, chicken "pops," oysters on the half shell and tofu fries.

Linda's (Capitol Hill)
7-9 p.m. daily. $2 Pabst; $3 microbrews and wells; $5.50 Pabst pitchers; $7.50 microbrew pitchers; three sliders (miniburgers) for $3.

Luau Polynesian Lounge (Green Lake)
Noon to 6 p.m., daily. $5 Mai Tais and Piña Coladas; $2 pints of Miller High Life or PBR; $3 microbrews. Specials on salads and sandwiches, including the Big Kahuna Burger.

Manray (Capitol Hill)
4-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday; 4 p.m.-2 a.m. Sunday. $4 wells, $2 domestic drafts and $5 pitchers.

Marjorie (Belltown)
5-7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday. $2 Red Stripe, $3 drafts, $4 wine, $6 cocktails (mojitos, margaritas, sangría and others); $3 food specials include pulled-pork sandwich, plantain chips and Thai curried mussels.

The Matador (Ballard and West Seattle)
4-6 p.m. and 10 p.m.-1 a.m. daily. Food specials include $4 nachos, wings, chicken quesadillas, calamari, romaine salad and chili (there is also a $5 food menu).

Mission (West Seattle)
5-7 p.m. and 10 p.m.-midnight, daily. $3 cocktails, $5 regular margaritas, $6 Cadillac or bartender margaritas, $2.50 selected drafts; food specials (10 p.m.-midnight only) include $5 nachos, quesadillas, taco plate (three tacos) and more.

Moe Bar (Capitol Hill)
3-8 p.m. daily. $2 wells and beer (Manny's Pale Ale, Redhook IPA, Peroni, Blue Moon, Mac & Jack's and Miller).

Ozzie's Diner (Queen Anne)
3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. Assorted food specials, including cheeseburger and fries, potato skins or two beef tacos for $2.95; fish 'n' chips for $4.95. Daily drink specials from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.: $2.50 domestic drafts, $3.50 microbrews and $3 wells.

Ray's Cafe (Ballard)
4-6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close, daily. (Drink specials: 4-6 p.m.) $4 wells and $1 off house wines, Driftwood Ale and Henry's. Extensive happy-hour menu includes $3.95 Caesar salad or hummus and pita; $4.95 Buffalo wings or calamari with lemon aioli. The view from the deck is one of the best in Seattle.

Rosebud (Capitol Hill)
4:30-8:30 p.m. daily. $2 wells; $4 appetizers (4-7:30 p.m. daily) include macaroni and cheese, spinach salad, pork sandwich and beef skewers.

Smarty Pants (Georgetown)
4-7 p.m. and 10 p.m.-midnight, weekdays. $3 wells and drafts; $1.50 pints of PBR. Look for a happy-hour food menu soon.

Smith Pub 'n' Grub (Capitol Hill)
4-6 p.m. daily. $1 off most tap beers and wells. Special on PBR: $2 pints, $5.50 pitchers.

Stellar Pizza & Ale (Georgetown)
3-6 p.m. daily. $4 premium wells, $3 microbrews.

Stix Billiards & Brewery (South Lake Union)
4 to 6 p.m., Monday-Friday. $4 well drinks, $3 pints of house-brewed beer; pool tables can be rented for $4/hour.

Tango (Capitol Hill)
4:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday-Friday, in the lounge only. $3 pints, $5 mojitos and margaritas; food specials include carnitas, shrimp ceviche and queso fundido (around $6 apiece).

Tia Lou's (Belltown)
5-7 p.m. daily. $3 wells and wine; $6 double margaritas; $4 appetizers, including taquitos, tacos, tamales and quesadillas.

Viceroy (Belltown)
5-8 p.m. daily. $3 wells, $1 off all other drinks except wine.

Victory Lounge (South Lake Union)
4-6 p.m. and 10-11 p.m. daily. All drinks are 50 cents off during the first happy hour and half off during the second.

Von's Grand City Cafe (Downtown)
3-7 p.m. and 10 -12 p.m. daily. $3.50 martinis and Manhattans all day, every day. A wheel of fortune is spun every 30 minutes during happy hour to determine drink specials.
