A touch o' the Irish
Looking to grab a pint of real beer, the kinda stuff that's as thick as dark rye bread and tastes like it, too? Whether it's St. Patty's day or just some rainy old Sunday, get thee to an authentic Irish pub, bub.
Celtic Swell (West Seattle)
Go to The Celtic Swell in West Seattle for drinks and big portions of Irish eats and American pub-food favorites, including mini-burger sliders and excellent halibut fish and chips.
Conor Byrne Pub (Ballard/Crown Hill)
This Irish pub regularly has good bands on the folk/Irish side of things, and the joint knows how to pour a Guinness (in 20-ounce pint glasses, of course).
F.X. McRory's Steak, Chop & Oyster House (Pioneer Square)
If the Mariners had an official team restaurant, this surf 'n' turf joint could be it.
Fado Irish Pub (Pioneer Square)
Fado serves a good pint, but the pub is part of a national chain, so the place might feel a tad like "Epcot Center" to folks who've actually been to Ireland.
Galway Arms (University/Montlake)
Rowdy and jocular, if not too jock-ular, with live music most of the week.
Irish Emigrant (University/Montlake)
When it comes to the whole shebang — song, food, dance and drink — the Irish Emigrant is Seattle's most authentic spot.
Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub (Downtown)
This Irish pub has free live music much of the week, brews that are frothy and fresh, and enough authentic ambience to have you wonder if you're really in Seattle or across the ocean.
Mulleady's Irish Pub & Restaurant (Magnolia/Interbay)
This handsome two-story pub boasts a pair of fireplaces, a menu that includes everything from garlic hummus to Shepherd's Pie, and a solid selection of ales on tap.
Owl 'N Thistle Irish Pub & Restaurant (Downtown)
Great atmosphere, cheap grub and fun, free live music every night.
Paddy Coyne's Irish Pub (Eastlake/Lake Union)
At Paddy Coyne's Irish Pub in the South Lake Union area, the draughts are generous, the bar is fully stocked and the food - soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches and a roster of Irish favorites (exceptional fish and chips and Irish Stew among them) is worth the wait.
Reading Gaol (Greenwood/Phinney Ridge)
A low-key, authentic pub with two-dozen kinds of beer on tap and the art of the proper pour always on display.
T.S. McHugh's Irish Pub & Restaurant (Queen Anne/Seattle Center)
This place serves decent pub food along with its brews on tap. It's located right near the KeyArena.
