In the heart of Tukwila sits a new hot spot. Yes, you read that right: "Hot spot" and Tukwila in the same sentence.

Sleekly designed in a contemporary industrial style, Acme Bowling, Billiards and Events is 51,000 square feet of entertainment extravaganza. Inside this modern space near Southcenter Mall, you'll find 30 state-of-the-art bowling lanes equipped with 64 high-definition plasma screen TVs, 10 private lanes with an adjacent meeting room, 7 billiard tables, 30 video arcade games, and a spacious bar and restaurant area offering a full menu. The venue also offers WiFi, in line with Seattle's status as the "most unwired city" in America.

Open since November of last year, the privately-owned and family-friendly Acme is cozily packed every night with folks of all ages. "Acme provides a great socially interactive place to go and hang out, whether you're five or 105 years old," says Gary Larson, manager of Acme Bowling, Billiards and Events. "There's something for everybody here."

On an ordinary day, you'll find families with children and groups of friends hanging out together in this neighborhood stomping ground. "The idea was to build an upscale entertainment facility that allows families to come out and enjoy different activities in a comfortable atmosphere," says Larson. "We offer a lot of family-oriented activities, as well as hosting big parties and group events."

Besides for leisure, professional groups and companies also patronize this sociable haunt for team-building purposes. Acme's Seven10 space features ten private lanes with comfy couch-like seating for groups of up to 100, which is connected to an exclusive 700 square-foot meeting room. The Seven10 is open to the public when it's not booked for private parties.

When all the fun-filled excitement gets you hungry and thirsty, you don't need to go far. Acme has a restaurant, bar and lounge that can accommodate up to 200 people. The restaurant serves up scrumptious appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, signature pizzas and pastas, all made from fresh Northwest ingredients. The bar and lounge serves cleverly-named mixed libations to parched bowlers 21 years and older, such as the Perfect Strike Martini, a combination of Absolut Vodka and Cointreau; the Gutterball, triple sec, vodka and orange juice with Midori sour; the King Pin, Bacardi Rum and triple sec topped off with Myers Dark Rum and grenadine; and the tropical treat called the High Roller, a pineapple juice, orange juice, vodka, triple sec and banana liquor combo.

And armchair athletes should feel right at home inside Acme's bar and lounge, with its numerous mammoth-size televisions. "We're only three months old, but people are now slowly finding out about us," Larson says. "The Seahawks games were good to us, and we're looking forward to the Mariners games ahead. We really fill this place up with sports fans."

Judging from Acme Bowling's devotion to customer happiness and hard work, this new hot spot is sure to be a hit with fans of all kinds. It's little wonder that Larson and his staff are so proud of Acme, and are so eager for you to "come out here and have fun together." Roll on down to Tukwila, and prepare to be bowled over.

Acme Bowling, Billiards and Events is open seven days a week and stays open late until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Depending on the time of day, bowling prices vary from $3.75-$5.50 per player, per game with a shoe rental of $3.00 per player. Early Bird Specials are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. until noon for $2.00 per game plus shoe rental. Games of billiards are $6.00-$13.00 per table, per hour.

I've been there 4 times with my husband and daughter and never got a lane, at least a 2 hour wait is what I was told. Didn't matter if I was there at 4:00 pm or 7:00 pm, they did not have any available lanes. It seems that if you knew you weren't renting the party lanes out that you'd let others use them. Also, those 4 visits we sat down to eat at your restaurant and had horrible service, and twice did not get what we ordered. If it takes more that an hour or so to get your food, and the place is not packed, there's something wrong.
