Best neighborhood bars and clubs
Seattle has a nightlife that few cities can equal. If you haven't sampled it yet, put on your dancing shoes, pick a neighborhood and call a cab.
Ballard
It's more than just tattoo parlors, lutefisk and rockabilly 'dos — Ballard has some of Seattle's best bars, as refined or down-and-dirty as you'd like.

Belltown
This once-arty downtown neighborhood is fast becoming Seattle's Las Vegas — it attracts a young, trendily-dressed crowd, and chic new bars open regularly.

Capitol Hill
Gays, lesbians, goths, mods, rockers, punks and students all mix and mingle on the Hill, a colorfully bohemian neighborhood with dozens of unique nightspots.

Downtown
By night, Seattle's downtown is largely deserted, though there are some bright spots on the nightlife horizon.

Eastside
Just over the 520 Bridge are some swanky clubs and long-time favorite taverns worth visiting.

Fremont
The "Center of the Universe" lives up to its nickname with a number of cool, casual nightspots in one of the most pedestrian-friendly areas in Seattle.

Georgetown
A couple of miles south of downtown Seattle is the neighborhood of Georgetown, home to artists' lofts, rehearsal halls, biker hangouts, lots of warehouses and a few of the best damn bars in town.

Pioneer Square
There are a lot of bars and clubs in the Square, and a joint-cover at several establishments encourages bar-hopping.

Wallingford, Greenwood and Green Lake
The bars and clubs of Wallingford, Greenwood/Phinney Ridge and Green Lake — hereafter known as Lake Wallingwood — are much like the neighborhoods they serve: friendly, low-key, refined and loaded with (quiet!) fun.

West Seattle
Through its separation from "East" Seattle or perhaps just plain good luck, West Seattle has some of the friendliest nightlife you're likely to find.

University District
The neighborhood around the University of Washington has more than its share of noisy frat joints, but it also has a few (almost) tranquil neighborhood bars.
