Agua Verde
GEOFF CARTER / NWSOURCE
Enjoy cheap, tasty Mexican dishes and strong margaritas at Agua Verde.

University District pubs and clubs
Seattle's University District does have some great bars; they're not all cheesy pick-up joints for fratties and sorority girls! Whether you're going out after a tough week at school or just hanging after a movie, you've got good choices among the best clubs and bars in the area.
Agua Verde Cafe & Paddle Club
Agua Verde's Mexican menu is solid, and its outdoor patio over Lake Union affords one of the loveliest views you'll find in Seattle.
Dante's
This University District sports bar is just slightly off-the-beaten-path enough for us. It has lots of games, including shuffleboard, pool, video games and darts.
Flowers Bar & Restaurant
Our favorite "hang" bar in the U District, Flowers has good food and a low-key atmosphere. Patronized by both college kids and early-30-somethings, it's a nice place to meet a date or just chill with a small group.
Galway Arms
Rowdy and jocular, if not too jock-ular, with live music most of the week.
Giggles Comedy Club
This is the city's finest comedy club. Its local amateur nights are actually funny, and the hottest touring acts come here. The drinks are pricey but strong.
Irish Emigrant
When it comes to the whole shebang — song, food, dance and drink — the Irish Emigrant is Seattle's most authentic spot.
Monkey Pub
Want to play pool, video games or darts with your buddies while downing a tasty brew? This low-key spot's the place.
Rainbow Bar & Grill
This is one of the most underrated clubs in the city. Reggae, jazz, rock and hippie music fans can see great music any night of the week at this comfy, unpretentious spot.
Tempero do Brasil
This tasty, spicy restaurant serves stiff drinks with names you'll never hear outside of South America. The music is loud and lively, and people actually dance here. It's a refreshing change.
