Just as New York City's prestigious Fashion Week [1] is winding down, downtown Bellevue is prepping for a fashion celebration of its own. On Friday, Sept. 15 the city's developments of Bellevue Square, Bellevue Place and Lincoln Square will launch the first ever Bellevue Collection Fashion Week '06 [1], nine days of events ranging from a Nordstrom fall fashion runway show to women's shopping parties. Shoppers will get a look at the latest trends for fall and have opportunities for special discounts, fashion consultations and freebies.
Coordinators hope the event will give out-of-towners a reason to visit downtown Bellevue. "This was done to demonstrate the strength of fashion offerings at the Bellevue Collection," says spokesperson Cheryl Engstrom. Most events require an RSVP. Engstrom says she was surprised that one of the first events to sell out was the "Shoot in Style" men's fashion evening at Parlor Billiards.
Another highlight of the week will be Saturday's David Lawrence Runway Special, showcasing collections from D&G, Versace and John Richmond ($25). It will take place at an upscale space developed especially for Fashion Week called the Axis, located in Lincoln Square. Some event proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Tip: Purchase a $20 Passion for Fashion card to get VIP treatment from participating stores.
