Sure, the paint you find at The Home Depot will do the job. However, if you're at all concerned about the toxins that may be lurking in the bucket you've chosen for your bedroom – or your baby's nursery – check out our favorite new discovery: Anna Sova paint.

The company's Healthy Wall Finish is made from 99.9 percent food-grade ingredients such as yogurt protein, milk casein, doughnut powder and bamboo fibers. While you wouldn't exactly want to eat it, the paint is all-natural and environmentally friendly – in fact, you could use it to water your garden without harming your plants. As an added bonus, the paint contains no volatile organic compounds (toxins which are found in many standard commercial paints), so it's even safe for expectant mothers to grab a brush.

Choose from hundreds of colors, hues and scents. Add Anna Sova's custom aromatherapy oils ($14 each) to the paint to give your room a subtle scent of lemon, vanilla or orange clove.

Anna Sova paint products (about $55 per gallon) are available for purchase at Greener Lifestyles [0] in Ballard.
