The easiest ensemble for summer -- a bright, happy dress with a few key accessories -- is the look we've seen most in the windows of Seattle boutiques this month. If we're to believe our eyes, jewel tones, retro prints and elegance all have a place at the summer picnic table.
The retro look is raging, with bold prints of '60s-style graphics served up on tunics and baby dolls that will look as good over a bare leg next month as they do over a pair of black leggings today. Bliss [0] in Fremont stocks a vast array of retro prints starting at less than $100.
It the Twiggy look doesn't do it for you, Bliss also has pretty French Connection [1] tunics for $98. Offered in various shades of plum, these summery, side-tie minidresses will also be great for layering in the fall.
For soft jersey summer dresses, head further north to the appropriately named Frock Shop [1] in Phinney Ridge. There you'll find a sweet green dress with an A-line flounce from Los Angeles designer Soprano for only $68. The dress is such a hit that a newly engaged Seattleite recently selected it for her bridesmaids. Lucky girls.
