Parents of drool machines and spit-up queens, take note: Bellevue-based Baby Chaleco [1]'s solution to Chronically Soaked Child Syndrome is a collection of supersoft bibs that look like cute smocks.
Designed to keep kids' outfits dry, the bibs have an absorbent, woven velour terry layer outside and a water-resistant layer inside. They're also cleverly disguised as clothing (and suitable for all-day wear), so kids don't perpetually look like they just finished lunch. Smocklike styles range from "Minky Pink," a rose-hued number, to "Over Easy," a navy getup embellished with a lime-green alligator.
The bibs were born of founder Carol Schiller's frustration with keeping her third child's drool under control. She designed them to stay put: Their construction prevents them from slipping off, turning around or otherwise falling down on the job.
Baby Chaleco bibs are $38.50, available at Hush Baby [2] in Redmond, Tottini [3] in South Lake Union, Once Upon a Time [4] in Queen Anne and at all Whole Foods [5] markets by mid-November.
