The décor at new women's shop So Much Fun Sporty Chic [1] mirrors the candy colors of its Wallingford Center neighbor, Trophy Cupcakes [1]. The new boutique's ethos is similarly fun-loving, with pink M&Ms for the taking and handbags interspersed with running bras. Owner Sabrina Hirsch seeks out clothing that's yoga studio- and gym-appropriate, but cute enough to hit the street in afterward without looking like a schlub.
Standouts among the feminine athletic wear include Vancouver-based Skyler, with yoga and Pilates wear that incorporates ruching (a thigh-length zip-up jacket with ruched front is $129). Karma Athletics [2] clothes are reminiscent of yoga powerhouse Lululemon [3] and include a pair of form-fitting pants guaranteed to flatter just about anyone ($65 for capris, $85 for long pants).
So Much Fun is the only store in town that carries Allison Wonderland [4], a handmade streetwear line out of Vancouver with flattering 1950s-secretary-inspired looks, including a sleeveless tweed V-neck dress with epaulets ($185). Matt & Nat vegan handbags ($80-$135) round out the mix with chic styles that look and feel like real leather.
Look for in-store Pilates classes coming soon, and a casual bike team set to launch in the spring. True to So Much Fun's approach, expect leisurely rides to bakeries, not all-out conquests of the Burke-Gilman.
So Much Fun Sporty Chic is in the Wallingford Center at 1815 N. 45th St., Suite 208; 206-632-2742. Visit the store online at http://smfsportychic.com/index.htm [5].
