The grown-ups can have their First Thursday ritual of the Art Walk--the kids will be having their fun at Precocious [1] , the newish toy store in Madrona, with Game Night. Each month from 7-9 p.m., Precocious will pull out three or four games they love and sell, and kids can come play while grazing on the provided snacks.
We stopped into Precocious for the first time today, after enjoying a steamer at Cupcake Royale [2] , and we were excited by their selection. Gub immediately went for a rolly-cart toy that was too big for her, but a sweet employee came over to show her how it worked and offered to help her on it. Their selection of quality toys and games appeals to a wide range of ages, and the atmosphere of the store invites customers to stay a while and have fun: this isn't just a place to buy stuff. Gub loved the little chairs and the low-hung chalk board. The woman who showed her the rolly toy also wound up a music box for her and instructed her on the finer points of a lovely foam ball.
Precocious opened last October, and owner Monica Coulter says that they plan on having more events in the future, including a big clothing swap on March 1. I'll keep you posted on that as the date approaches.
My favorite selection in the store? The party supplies! They have a cute array of Dora-free paper hats, blowers, candles, favors and even party crackers, and they say they hope to be adding to the selection soon. I will be back to prep for Gub's big number two!
