Don't hate me, but I remain a big fan of the leggings trend. (How else could I wear dresses throughout the winter?) So I was excited to see the comfy trend for legs modified for the upper body by Seattle designer Susan Fedore, whose arm cozies warm up T-shirts the same way leggings help winterize dresses.
Available in black and heather gray, the arm cozies ($20) are just one of the chic offerings from Fedore's Una [1] label, which she launched at the end of 2007. The cozies stretch from just below your knuckles to just over your elbows, are crafted from organic cotton and spandex and are screen-printed by hand.
A designer for nearly 15 years, Fedore's focus is on "producing pieces locally and on a small scale." In addition to the arm cozies, the Una collection includes kimono-style wrap dresses with a miniature obi ($128) in burgundy, black and a medallion print; and a range of French terry tops, including a bolerolike shrug ($80) and an undyed corset-style tank ($78) with a screen-printed bird-and-branch design.
The line is available at Velouria [1] in Ballard, Solstice [1] in Pike Place Market and online at www.una-shop.com [2].
