The Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project moves its clinic and opens registration for its benefit golf tournament

Ever seen a "stray" cat missing the tip of his or her left ear? That's a sign the free-roaming or feral cat has been altered, and in this neck of the woods, there's a good chance that surgery took place at the Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project [1] (FCSNP). Since 1997, FCSNP has pursued a simple mission -- to provide free- or low-cost access to high volume spay/neuter surgery in a safe and humane environment.

I visited the clinic in the Northgate neighborhood earlier this year, and was impressed by the professionalism of the operation and the commitment of the volunteers. Working in crowded, temporary quarters, they managed to spay or neuter as many as 50 cats in a single day.

So I was thrilled to learn they will be moving into a larger, better equipped facility next month. The new building in Lynnwood has a larger lobby for efficient check-in, more space for patient prep and surgery, a kitchenette, bathroom (they don't have their own bathroom at the current location!), a storage area and ample parking.

Learn about the progress at the new location (4001 198th St. S.W., Suite 3) and what's still needed on their wish list (everything from shelf liners and filing labels to an office chair) on the new clinic blog [1].

Early word for cat-loving golfers!! The Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project hosts its largest fundraiser, the 3rd annual Golf FORE the Animals (at The Golf Club at Echo Falls [2], Snohomish) on July 26. The benefit tournament includes 18 holes of golf, hole-in-one contests, skill challenges, lunch and a raffle.

I mention this nearly two months in advance because teams that register by June 14 save $50. (Registration fees: $125 per golfer or $450 for foursomes who register and pay by June 14.) All proceeds benefit FCSNP and are used for free or low-cost spay/neuter surgery. For more information, contact executive director Julie White, (253) 859-2801.
