Once spotted in the men's bathroom of the Lava Lounge, written in fat black marker: "Spock (had sex with) yr mom." Written below that, in finer line, was a rebuttal: "That is highly illogical."

We're guessing that particular exchange somehow expresses what makes the Lava Lounge your favorite dive bar, but we could be wrong. Maybe you love the Lava Lounge's tiki décor, or its no-nonsense hardwood booths, or its crowd of indie brats and crusty blue-collar working stiffs. The thing is, not even the mighty Spock can say what makes a dive bar great; you just walk in and you know. Not that anyone's asked Spock that question, or if what they're saying about our mom is true.
