With its fabulous "vinyl basement" in Fremont and the frequent in-store performances at its Ballard branch, Sonic Boom Records pretty much epitomizes all the good things about the independent record store that are worth hanging onto as we stumble into the download-directly-to-iPod era. This category saw a lot of passionate voting; Sonic Boom's closest runner-up, Easy Street Records, still received a heck of a lot of votes.
