This hotly-contested category finally went to Salty's at Redondo Beach, the winner of several other categories in this year's Peoples Picks (also "Outdoor dining," "Romantic dining," "Seafood," say when). However, we strongly suspect that all those other wins would be less feasible without this one. More to the point, every perfect occasion at this Des Moines establishment begins on its picture-postcard patio, glass of wine in hand, with Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains providing a majestic backdrop to the evening's revels.
