Once again, the internationally-known KEXP wins this category. The primarily indie-rock station is one of the last of its kind: It's not corporate-owned, its playlist is chosen entirely by its air staff and its parameters are defined only by what its listeners will accept. However, it's apparently no longer the only place "where the music matters": Tacoma-based Spanish language station KKMO 1360 AM, better known as "Radio Sol," came awfully close to a win. Dios mio.
