GEOFF CARTER / NWSOURCE
"You gotta love a place that's been around for 115 years," writes a reader. It's almost too much for a beer-addled mind to comprehend: While you sit at the Central Saloon's bar, sipping your whiskey and nodding your head along with the band (there is live music at the Central seven days a week), the odds are good that a rugged frontiersman sat in the exact same place a hundred years before, drinking whiskey and glaring at the yellowbelly on the house piano. In other words, this Pioneer Square bar was a dive years before the word "dive" was first applied to bars. That's something to be proud of.
