Several gourmet pizza restaurants have popped up around Seattle over the past few years -- runners-up Serious Pie, Via Tribunali and Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria among them -- but in the end, you chose an old friend. Pagliacci has been delivering the savory goods since opening its first location on the Ave (University Way Northeast, to the uninitiated) in 1979, and you can always depend on the local chain for quick delivery and a pie loaded with goodies -- including such seasonal favorites as artichokes, salmon and Walla Walla sweet onions. Even Pagliacci's most basic pizza, with its soft, chewy dough, tangy tomato sauce and whole-milk mozzarella cheese, seldom fails to hit the spot.
