Bored with chocolate, roses and dinner out? Give your valentine (and yourself) a treat with a spa treatment for two. Many area spas have special packages or accommodations for couples including massages, steams, soaks, manicures and pedicures. Here are a few spots for pampered togetherness.
Avanti Spas
Head south and make a night of it. Avanti Spas in Tacoma is located in the Courtyard by Marriott. Try the Rasul Couples Treatment (60 minutes; $85 per couple) which includes a self-applied (or partner applied) mud treatment and steam in a private steam chamber. Three types of mud are available to detoxify the skin and a moisturizer is provided. More indulgent is the Seduction of the Senses (90 minutes; $265 per couple) that titillates the senses of smell, taste, sight, touch and sound. Start with a togetherness bath with candles, champagne and strawberries. Next comes a side-by-side massage followed by a mini-facial and scalp massage. Ahh.
Spa Blix
The Couples Retreat package for two ($475) is a playful splurge for lovers. It includes a full body exfoliation and aromatherapy massage, plus an airbrush tattoo design. Designs range from butterflies and hearts to dragons and Celtic art. (Pick your placement strategically.)
Habitude at the Locks
This Northwest-inspired spa has a spacious treatment room to accommodate two to four tables (invite another couple?). Try the Togetherness Massage ($180) which begins with a visit to the detoxifying Hot Rocks Sauna. Next is the hour-long customized massage with your choice of aromatherapy essences such as lavender or jasmine. Finish with a private steam shower ($22 each).
Peridot Nail Salon
Pamper your tootsies and hands together at this newly opened salon in Kent with a Pearl manicure and pedicure for two for $100 (regularly $116). The 45-minute pedicure and 30-minute manicure include an exfoliating hand and foot masque of wild-crafted Indonesian ginger and warm towel wrap. Book between Feb. 10 and Feb.19 for the special.
Herban Therapies Spa
This Bellevue spa has a special room where you can have massages, facials, body treatments and foot treatments together. Couples massages start at $75 per person and facials are $70 per person and up. Most services on their extensive menu can be enjoyed together.
