Seattle boasts quite a few talented clothing designers, and Ballard resident Beki Wilson is among them.

Since 2000, Wilson has been designing and handmaking women's tops, skirts and dresses for her own collection named Out of Line. Once you see the signature smocking made up of intricate folds and topstitching on many of her pieces, you'll understand the brand name.

Wilson's aesthetic is casual and wearable, yet sprinkled with dashes of the unexpected. Take her Shift Dress ($158): Made of sleek black satin Lycra, it is the perfect little black dress, with a free-form topstitched gathering at the chest that makes the simple A-line really stand out.

Wilson isn't one to stay within the lines, and many of her pieces feature crisscross stitching in contrasting colors and asymmetrical touches. The denim Pocket Skirt ($95) with deep front pockets is a sweet go-to skirt for sunny summer days, and the One Side Top ($72) with gathered cap sleeves and a cowl neck is an adorably gussied-up casual shirt.

The Out of Line summer collection, as well as several new pieces, will be available during an evening trunk show June 26 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Bouncing Wall on Queen Anne. The even will feature live music, food and drink, as well as circulating models wearing Wilson's creations. RSVP to info@bouncingwall.com and receive 15 percent off all items during the event.
