A good robe can transport you. A fluffy one whisks you to a luxury spa, a short silky number takes you to a posh hotel and a cozy one can lower you into a comfy chair in front of the fireplace. They also make great gifts, so I've rounded up a few great robes from shops around town.
Ann Marie Lingerie in Madison Park offers classic cotton, cozy flannel and decadent cashmere robes for the traditionalists among us. I spied short cotton robes from Elizabeth Cotton ($162) in whimsical pink floral and peacock feather patterns; lush gray flannel and sensible quilted cotton robes from Pluto (from $276); and splurgeworthy cashmere robes in soothing pastel shades from Underwriters ($540).
Collective on Ballard Avenue is known for its fabulous vintage furniture, but they've got gorgeous robes as well. New to the shop are butter-soft, beautifully constructed Andina robes made with 75 percent bamboo, 25 percent cotton and organic dyes. Normally $225, they're on sale through the holiday season for $145.
If silk robes are your style, slip into a handmade, 100 percent silk gown from Kumi Kookoon. Choose from a short robe with kimono sleeves ($164) or a long wrap ($190) in soothing tones of pewter, ivory and pale pink. For a more casual choice, DreamSacks makes an innovative robe wrap from bamboo fabric that feels like silk ($68).
You'll find fluffy soft soy-fiber robes ($120) from DreamSacks at Sweet Petula's new Pioneer Square location. Visit the store's Madison Valley shop for American-made PJ Harlow cotton robes with silk accents in black, champagne and teal (from $89) and slinky Bella Notte rayon and velvet robes (starting at $180).
Swing by after Dec. 21 for the store's big moving sale -- everything in the store will be marked down 25 percent. After Dec. 25 (or thereabouts), the Madison store will close and Sweet Petula's inventory will move to the Pioneer Square location.
