If you're looking to spruce up your home for Halloween, you need look no further than University Village-adjacent gift boutique Curtsy Bella, where "boo" has been added to what I like to call the shop's "b" themes: baby, bridal, bachelorette and boa.
Eschewing the standard pumpkins and ghosts that define most stores' October fare, Curtsy Bella owner Mary Jo Thomas opted for a more a stylish take on her Halloween merchandise. Serve up your witches' brew in slick black crystal wine glasses ($20) or dress your mantel with an elegant (yes, elegant) beaded spider web ($26).
If costumes aren't your thing, but you still want to show a little Halloween spirit, pick up a bargain-priced vintage Halloween-themed masquerade mask ($6.25) or a pair of black filigree Tarina Tarantino skull earrings ($63).
If the treats are hard to come by in your own neighborhood on Halloween, head to Curtsy Bella's neck of the woods, where the boutique and its Blakeley Street neighbors -- the Shoe Zoo, Unleashed Pawsabilities and All for Kids Books & Music -- will hand out treats for both adults and kids from 4 to 6 p.m.
Curtsy Bella is at 2920 N.E. Blakeley St.; 206-523-3221. Visit the store online at www.curtsybella.com.
