I'm always excited to come across a new (or new to me) local designer, especially one who understands that women would like to be able to afford clothing made with organic fabrics and non-toxic dyes. We shop our conscience for food and transportation, why not clothing? That's my big thing, anyway.

Mercer Island mom and newbie designer Sara Seumae started her clothing line Spun in 2007, and has a new Web site just in time for her fall 2008 collection. I'm loving her deep jewel tones and casual, comfy, yet stylish designs. And I'm told Sara has just added XL's to her size run, which is always nice to see in a boutique line.

Don't be surprised if you see me around town in the Boat Neck Top. It's got everything that I love in a casual top: 3/4 length sleeves and pockets. It retails for $55, which is totally doable for me for a basic that I will more than likely live in this fall/winter.
