Portland is known for its innovative indie designers, like eco-conscious Emily Katz and Project Runway's Leanne Marshall. That city's Fashion Week (Oct. 8-12) highlights them all, as well as designers from Seattle and other cities.

It's a smidge too early to see who is walking the catwalk this year, but we do know that Seattle design trio Alula will be showing their Spring/Summer 2009 line on the bamboo runway for sure.
