Nau now

Adventure clothing for the socially conscious

April 30, 2007

Plaza Suite

Sustainable fashion goes suburban this month with the opening of Nau in Bellevue Square. Maori for "welcome," Nau is a new approach to socially responsible adventure clothing. More stylish than REI and a bit dressier than Lucy, Nau clothing provides a great alternative for those who want to dress the eco-fashionista part without fleece or muslin.

Nau does everything from technical outdoor clothing (including the under layers and insulation) to casual sportswear. A highlight is the Motion Dress ($85), a blend of organic cotton and jersey that creates a flattering, go anywhere dress that would be perfect for a daytime date

Nau goes beyond just organic cotton and fashions its apparel out of fabrics made from recycled materials like soda bottles and synthetic fiber made from corn.

Who knew sustainability could be so stylish?

sustainable has to also include livable wages for workers. where were these items produced? were international labor standards enforced?
Think of the organic soda bottles! And the children! My God, think of the children! Waaa! (Seriously, get a grip).
