Violette

Funky boutique returns, showcasing playful, ladylike designs

April 5, 2007

Violette

After a brief absence, clothing boutique Violette is back, now on First Avenue in Pioneer Square next door to Fireworks. Owner Beth Nielsen's new space with exposed brick walls and yet-to-be-developed loft is just the right combination of funky and arty ambiance in this area known for its proliferation of galleries.

The clothes here range from whimsical and playful to ladylike. Nielson has brought in some new lines including Candy Factory from Canada-they make the cutest panties with fabric applique flowers ($25 each). Portland designer Liza Reitz's dresses are Audrey Hepburn-esque with an edge (around $200). Seattleite Suzanne Jaberg designs feminine clothing under her Suzabelle label including silky tank tops, skirts, dresses, and trench coats in navy blue and creamy whites ($70-$210). Nielsen carries her own vintage-inspired clothing line as well.

Best sellers including the great fitting Pine IV denim; Belabumbum lacy bras, panties and lingerie; Rachel Pally dresses; Velvet-Tees, and glazed fabric handbags from local designer Crystalyn Kae. You'll also find jewelry lines by local designers including pretty gemstone jewelry from Schwa Designs, Leilani Jensen's colorful glass creations and pieces, from Alisha Louise and Amy Bengston.

Don't miss it: On April 14, enjoy champagne and snacks at Violette's Northwest accessories designer showcase.
